Four friends rally their hometown of Noblesville, Indiana to help them build a ten foot toboggan and send them to race in the U.S. National Toboggan Championships in Camden, Maine.

Three years ago, Noblesville resident Geoff Davis organized a community toboggan build at the local library where he was artist-in-residence. A hundred people joined in, assisting six craftspeople, to create two traditional American toboggans. That day a dream was born: to design and build a toboggan and then represent his Indiana community - Noblesville, Indiana - at the U.S. Toboggan National Championships in Camden, Maine.

This year, Geoff, along with friends and teammates Joe Rudy, Ken Bubp, and Miles Morosi, decided it was time to make that dream a reality. On a chilly Saturday in February, tucked away in a makeshift workshop off the Noblesville Square, over twenty-five community members came together to build a 10-foot artisan toboggan for the team to use in the race.

A week later, the team - named the Hoosier Hotshots after a Hamilton County jazz band from the 1930s - packed up the sled and made the 40-hour trek to the east coast.

“It's not about the race. It's about community.

We're not just talking about a race down a hill. We're talking about involving as many people in the community as we can to have a really good time and represent our community in an unexpected way and to connect two places that are really important to me.”

- Geoff Davis

At 12 Stars Media we love meeting interesting people and helping to share their stories. For us, the motivation is always deeper than it seems at first glance. Like Geoff said, Toboggan ‘Bout Town is not really about a race; it’s about how a community can support the dreams of its members.

“We always ask ourselves what we want viewers to walk away thinking and feeling when a film is over. With Toboggan ‘Bout Town we hope the message rings clear - your ideas and dreams are worth chasing! Find people who believe in you and go make it happen.”
